Full Day Hudson FL Redfish & Snook Charter

Looking for a serious day on the water? This full-day Hudson inshore charter puts you right in the heart of Florida's Nature Coast fishing action. We're talking eight solid hours chasing redfish, snook, and spotted seatrout through some of the most productive flats and backcountry waters you'll find anywhere. Captain runs a top-rated Pathfinder that'll get you to the fish fast with a 300hp Suzuki pushing us along. Whether you're a weekend warrior or just getting started, this trip's got everything dialed in – tackle, bait, licenses, the works. Hudson's location gives us access to incredible variety, from shallow grass flats to deeper channels where these fish love to hang out.

What to Expect on the Water

Your day kicks off early from Hudson, where we'll load up the Pathfinder and head out to the prime spots. This isn't some rushed half-day deal – we've got eight hours to really work the water and put you on fish. The boat handles up to six anglers total, but the base rate covers three people, so you can keep it intimate or bring the whole crew. Hudson sits perfectly positioned to hit multiple zones throughout the day. We might start working the grass flats for reds at sunrise, then move to structure for snook when the sun gets higher, and finish up in the deeper pockets where the trout like to school up. The captain knows these waters like his backyard and adjusts the game plan based on tides, weather, and what the fish are doing that particular day.

Tackle Setup & Techniques

We've got you covered with both light and heavy tackle options depending on what we're targeting and where we're fishing. For the grass flats, we'll often go with lighter spinning gear and work topwater plugs or soft plastics around the edges. When we're after snook around structure, we might bump up to heavier tackle since these fish love to run straight back to cover. Live bait is included and makes a huge difference – nothing beats a well-presented shrimp or pilchard when the fish are being picky. The captain will match your technique to your skill level, so don't worry if you're not familiar with sight fishing or working lures around mangroves. Part of what makes this a customer favorite is how much you'll learn throughout the day. We're constantly moving and adapting – if one spot isn't producing, we've got plenty more options within easy range of Hudson.

Species You'll Want to Hook

Redfish are the bread and butter of Hudson's inshore scene, and for good reason. These copper-colored bruisers cruise the shallow flats year-round, though spring and fall fishing tends to be world-class when they're really active. Reds typically run 20-30 inches in these waters, with plenty of slot-sized fish and some real bulls mixed in. What makes them so exciting is the visual aspect – you'll often see them tailing in skinny water or cruising just under the surface. When a red takes your bait, get ready for a bulldogging fight that'll test your drag.

Snook fishing around Hudson is trending upward, especially during the warmer months from late spring through early fall. These ambush predators love hanging around docks, mangrove edges, and any kind of structure where they can pin baitfish. A good Hudson snook typically measures 24-32 inches and fights like nothing else in the backcountry. They're famous for their gill-rattling jumps and that distinctive black lateral line. The trick with snook is presentation – they can be finicky, but when you get it right, they'll absolutely crush your offering.

Spotted seatrout round out the slam and provide consistent action throughout the day. These fish school up over grass beds and sandy pockets, making them perfect targets when we need to put some bends in the rods. Hudson's trout run bigger than average, with plenty of 15-18 inch fish and some real gator trout pushing 20-plus inches. They're most active during moving water, and the bite can be absolutely epic during the right tide phases. Trout are also great for anglers still getting comfortable with their technique since they're generally more forgiving than reds or snook.

Time to Book Your Spot

This full-day Hudson charter delivers exactly what serious anglers are looking for – time, variety, and fish. Eight hours gives us the flexibility to really work different areas and species as conditions change throughout the day. The all-inclusive setup means you can focus on fishing instead of worrying about gear or licenses. Hudson's central location on the Nature Coast puts multiple ecosystems within reach, from pristine grass flats to productive mangrove shorelines. Whether you're targeting your first redfish or looking to complete an inshore slam, this trip sets you up for success. The Pathfinder and 300hp Suzuki combo gets you there efficiently, so you're spending maximum time with lines in the water. Ready to see what Hudson's inshore fishing is all about? These spots fill up fast, especially during peak season.

Redfish

Redfish are the bread and butter of our Hudson shallow water fishing. These bronze-backed fighters with their signature black eyespots near the tail range from schoolie 18-22 inchers to bull reds pushing 30+ inches. They cruise the flats in just 1-4 feet of water, often with their backs showing as they root around oyster bars and grass edges. Year-round fishing is good, but fall and spring offer the most consistent action when they're feeding heavily. What makes reds special is their willingness to eat almost anything and their powerful, sustained runs when hooked. They're also excellent table fare with sweet, firm white meat. Guests love sight-fishing for them on calm days - watching a red inhale your lure in skinny water never gets old. Key tip: when you see a red with its head down feeding, cast well ahead of where it's moving and let your bait settle to the bottom before giving it life.

Redfish

Sea Trout

Spotted seatrout, or "specks" as locals call them, are a mainstay of our Hudson flats. These beautiful fish with their spotted silver sides average 14-20 inches, with some nice 3-5 pound fish mixed in. They cruise grass flats and sandy potholes in 2-8 feet of water, feeding on shrimp and small baitfish. Early morning and evening produce the best bite, especially during cooler months when they school up in deeper holes. Trout are great for beginners because they're willing biters and fight well for their size. The soft white meat is delicious but cook it carefully - it flakes apart easily. What guests love most is the variety of ways to catch them: topwater at dawn, soft plastics over grass, or live shrimp under a popping cork. My go-to technique is a 1/8 oz jig head with a white paddle tail worked slowly just above the grass - they can't resist it.

Snook

Snook are one of Florida's most sought-after inshore species, and for good reason. These sleek predators with their distinctive black lateral line typically run 18-28 inches around Hudson's waters, though trophy fish over 30 inches show up regularly. You'll find them ambushing baitfish around mangroves, docks, and creek mouths in 2-6 feet of water. They love structure and current breaks where they can surprise their prey. Spring through fall offers the best action, especially around the full and new moons when they're most active. What makes snook special is their aggressive strike and bulldogging fight - they'll make strong runs toward cover trying to break you off. The meat is white, flaky, and some of the best eating you'll find. Pro tip: cast your lure past the structure and work it back through the strike zone - snook rarely chase baits, they prefer easy ambush opportunities.
