Find answers to your most common questions about Boca Grande tarpon fishing and Hudson FL flats fishing to ensure your private charter is perfectly planned and all your trip details are covered.

I’ve had a rod in my hand since I was eight years old. Growing up on the Gulf Coast, the water wasn’t just a place to visit; it was home. I turned that lifelong obsession into a career in 2006, and I haven't looked back since. Over the last two decades, I’ve spent more time on the flats and backwaters of Hudson than I have on dry land. That time on the water has given me a feel for the tides and seasons that you just can’t get from a map—it’s about knowing where the fish are going to be before they even get there. For me, the best part of this job isn't just the fish; it’s seeing the look on a guest's face when everything clicks. Whether we’re stalking redfish in the mangroves or waiting for the "Silver King" to show up in the pass, I’m here to make sure you’re comfortable and confident. I love the teaching side of guiding. There’s a real reward in helping someone master a new cast or learn how to read the water, ensuring they leave the boat as a better angler than when they stepped on. I try to keep things relaxed and straightforward. A day on the water should be fun, not stressful, so I focus on clear communication and solid preparation. I’ve lived and fished in the Gasparilla Sound area for a long time, and I enjoy sharing the history and the "why" behind what we’re doing. My goal is to be a reliable guide who knows these waters inside and out, making sure you have a smooth, productive day under the Florida sun.
The 2026 Pathfinder 24
Our home base on the water is a brand-new 2026 Pathfinder 24. I chose this boat because it’s the gold standard for what we do here in Hudson. It’s a 24-foot bay boat that’s built to handle the skinniest shallows while still giving us a rock-solid, stable platform to fish from. It’s got plenty of room for four people to move around without bumping elbows. With a 300hp Suzuki on the back, we don’t waste time commuting—we get to the fishing spots fast and stay dry doing it. It’s loaded with the latest tech and top-tier gear, so you can focus entirely on the bite.

For our Hudson FL flats fishing, the action is excellent year-round, with spring and fall being particularly productive for redfish and trout. Do I need to bring my own fishing gear for the trip? No, you do not need to bring any gear. We supply high-end light tackle and heavy-duty tarpon setups specifically maintained for these local waters. However, if you have a favorite lucky rod you’d like to use for inshore fishing in Hudson, feel free to bring it along! Just let Captain Eric know ahead of time so we can make sure it’s rigged correctly for the species we are targeting. How much does a full-day fishing charter cost with Giant Tarpon Fishing?Pricing varies depending on the location and the specific species we are targeting. Because Boca Grande tarpon fishing requires different fuel, bait, and equipment than Hudson FL flats fishing, we recommend visiting our [Rates Page] for the most current pricing. We offer half-day, 6-hour, and full-day options to fit your schedule and budget. Is cleaning and filleting included in my Hudson FL flats fishing trip?Yes! For any legal-sized fish you choose to keep during a Hudson Florida fishing charter, Captain Eric will provide complimentary cleaning and filleting at the end of the trip. We will bag the fillets so they are ready for the grill. Please note that all Boca Grande tarpon are strictly catch-and-release to help preserve this incredible fishery for future generations. We have plenty of room in our cooler for your items. We also suggest wearing light-colored, breathable clothing and non-marking deck shoes. Can Giant Tarpon Fishing accommodate families and young children?Absolutely. We take great pride in being a family-friendly fishing service. Captain Eric is great with kids and enjoys teaching the next generation of anglers how to cast and handle fish. Whether we are on the quiet flats of Hudson or the open waters near Boca Grande, we prioritize safety and a fun, relaxed environment for the whole family. What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my charter?Safety is our top priority. If we cannot find a date that works for your schedule, your deposit will be fully refunded. How many people can fit on the boat for a private charter? Our Pathfinder 24 is licensed to carry up to 4 anglers comfortably. This allows for plenty of casting room and individual attention from the captain. Whether you are hunting a trophy tarpon or stalking redfish on the Hudson flats, keeping the group small ensures a higher quality experience for everyone on board. How do I book a trip to target fish with Giant Tarpon Fishing?Booking is easy! You can check our availability and secure your date directly through our website or by calling us.
